About

Bigger Thinking

Wollongong Business Accountants is a family run practice with over 30 years’ experience in helping Small and Medium Businesses achieve their financial goals through sound accounting advice and best practise.

Established in Mudgee in 1988, under the banner of ‘In-Business Solutions’, we built our business around an understanding of our customers’ needs. We form life-long relationships with our clients, and as a father-and-son team, we cherish the opportunity to work with the next generation as they either join the family business, or start one of their own.

Today, the practice in Wollongong focuses on business clients who are interested in moving forward with a bigger picture perspective, maximising the benefits that efficient accounting processes can offer, and strategically putting in place succession plans for the future and the next generation.

Over the years, we’ve found that taking a holistic approach to our clients accounting and business matters is the ultimate best practise. This thinking is central to how we approach every piece of the puzzle. Decisions you make today have lasting effects, and we’re here to help you foresee all the possible options and provide guidance where and when you need it.

We know you don’t want to get bogged down in compliance, and neither do we. Any accountant worth their salt can count your historical transactions and put some numbers on a form. We think bigger.

We genuinely care about our clients and work closely with them to make their day-to-day life easier and to plan for their future in the business and beyond.

The Key People

Denis Yeo

Denis has spent his entire career working in the accounting industry having started in a Mudgee based practise in 1979 and went on to complete his Bachelor of Business in Accounting at CSU Bathurst.

Following University, he decided to relocate to Sydney with his wife Linda to complete his Professional Year at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, of which he has the status of ‘Fellow’.

He then went on to work for a large Sydney based firm where he gained valuable skills in accounting for both small and medium enterprise before starting his own practise in 1988, where he was able to bring his ‘big city’ knowledge and experience back to the country to assist business owners in the smaller regional centres.

Denis went on to become the Mayor of Mudgee Shire Council, an integral member of the Mudgee Chamber of Commerce and the Mudgee Tourism Board.

He was also the Chair of the Governance Committee and the Treasurer of Verto, formerly known as the Central West Community College, served on the board of the Maritime Mining and Power Credit Union, as well as the board of the Central North Livestock Health and Pest Authority.

In 2014, Denis and Linda moved to Scarborough in Wollongong’s northern suburbs for a sea-change, which has enabled him to focus his time on helping small and medium sized businesses in the Illawarra succeed, with a people centred approach.

Leland Yeo

Leland was raised in Mudgee in the Central West of NSW, and following in his father’s footsteps, worked part-time in the family accounting firm during his later school years.

In 2011 he moved to Wollongong to complete his Bachelor of Economics and Finance at the University of Wollongong and joined his father as an accountant in 2014.

In the following years he has been learning on the job and in the classroom, while completing his Master of Professional Accounting and the Chartered Accountants’ program, as well as establishing a new family business under the banner of Wollongong Business Accountants, servicing the broader Illawarra region.

His strengths lie in application of information technology and data to help you make real-time decisions.

Leland is passionate about helping small to medium enterprise realise their success. He brings a modern edge to the business that compliments Denis’ wealth of experience.
